Kayaking has been an interest of ours for a while since Janice has told of the many adventures she has had going down the Wacissa River. Today we decided it would be the day we would try it. Merritt and I went out for a couple of hours and saw groups of 3 and groups of 5 manatee families swimming together. They came so close to the kayak on multiple occasions we both got to touch one (their skin feels like a slimy elephant, if you can imagine that!).

As you can see from the pic, Tripp was game for anything and was ready to find manatee and gators down the Wakulla River.

Hannah was a bit leary of gators and snakes getting in the kayak but took a 5 min. ride anyway.

Near the dock at Taffy and Paw Paw's there is always a small gator sunning on a log, but today he decided to see what was going on and swam towards us. Merritt and Tripp were just on the other side of this tree.
Hannah made this trip her last for a while. Taffy and I had fun looking for manatee but only saw two. Thanks to my family we had a great weekend! Monica
